Around the Bend

If you knew exactly what was around the bend, would you go anyway?

  1. I hate to admit it but I think it would depend on what is around it. I think I prefer not knowing so that I can take a risk or walk by faith.

  2. I tend to agree. Something good? I'm all over that. Bring it on.

Suffering? Heartache? Disappointment? I'm not so sure.

And, that makes what Jesus did even more astounding -- He could see around the bend, and He went anyway.

  3. The evening the elbow broke...

I learned how to kick turn a skateboard.

I learned that I could balance on two wheels (one axle).

I experienced the real joy of "Hey, I can do this..."

Then, in the simple act of stopping and getting off, I busted my arm.

If I knew about the pain to follow, sure, I would have stayed off.

If I knew a church would split in five years, I would never be involved in forming it.

If I knew the band would choose to use a different guitar guy in three years, I would probably have never played.

If I knew all the pain in life, I would be afraid to live at all.

Don't be afraid of the bend. If we fear the pain, we'll never enjoy the living.
