November 1 - 9

Finishing up the month of October (29 - 31)

Catching up

So, it's been a while since I posted new images. Sorry about that. I've got the pictures, just haven't gotten them uploaded, yet. Will work on that this afternoon.

Also, several of them may have been in challenges past and present at dpchallenge.com. The dates here may not correspond to the dates there -- these shots weren't all necessarily shot on the day(s) assigned. :)

October 13

Day 2 from my mighty macro challenge (30 macros in 30 days)

I was handholding a 50mm lens reversed infront of the kit lens, so I couldn;t get the tripod adjusted exactly (i was about 2 hands short). Neat technique, though. I should be getting a ring to hold the lens in the next few days, thanks to a totally awesome and generous guy at dpc. :)

October 12

Today was my birthday.

When I told King Travis what it was, he thought for a minute and said, "Does that mean I get to pick where we go out to eat?" (Now, I'm not sure of the entire meaning of that question, but it sounded loaded to me. Either we eat out a lot [we do] or he is totally spoiled [he is]).

So, for my birthday dinner, we went to Chuck E. Cheese. Where a kid can be a kid and an adult can come out several dollars poorer. :)

My in-laws gave me some money (always appreciated) and Bernard and I went to see Casting Crowns last Friday night in Asheville. Awesome group. Amazing concert.

So, I was going to post a picture of a birthday candle, but living in the house that I do, it was nowhere to be found. That is why I never throw anything away -- I never know when I may need it. :) Instead, I photographed the next best thing, a bow.

October 11

Not necessarily one of my favorite places (its the campus of the community college where I teach), but one of my favorite subjects to photograph.

Tomorrow starts my "Might Macro" challenge -- 30 macros in 30 days.

October 9 & 10

The mountain shot was made driving (around 35mph) with my left hand, and holding the camera out the window with my right. I just clicked. So, the full size is, well, a bit blurry. But, you can see the colors slowly showing through. In another week or so, it should be absolutely wonderful. The mountain is Cold Mountain. The very mountain that the book and movie are about.
I seem to have missed Sunday, somehow. :/

October 6 and 7

A couple of shots from the weekend. The tree shot was made with my little sony p&s. Not its strongest area, I think.

October 5

This is Snickers. It is not my dog, but belongs to my husband's workplace.

October 4

I like to look out on Fall mornings and see all the spider webs that have caught dew and stuff.

October 3

I thought this was cool. I like the way the colors "glow." In post processing, I adjusted the levels a bit for more contrast, then boosted the saturation a bit. Then, I duplicated a layer, used guassian blur and blended it for a nice soft focus effect. Finally, I cloned out a bug of some kind that distracted me to no end.
